Under the auspices of the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research and under the supervision of the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Apparatus, the Student Activities Department at the Scientific Supervision and Evaluation Apparatus held the Iraqi Universities Athletics Championship (male and female students) at the University of Baghdad, with the participation of 61 public and private universities and colleges.

It is worth noting that the university participated in the championship with a delegation headed by Dr. Maitham Dai Al-Haq, with Dr. Rasool Muhi Shamkhi as administrator, and Mr. Ahmed Hakim and Assistant Lecturer Marziya Abbas Juli as coaches, along with a group of the university's male and female students. The competitions resulted in the athlete Saba Ahmed winning seventh place in the discus throw event, noting that the positions credited for scoring are the top eight places out of 61 public and private universities and colleges.
